The Baby Duvet GuideFind out which baby duvet is best for your little one.Baby duvet measurements: A baby duvet measures 70x100 cm. This size is equivalent to half of a junior duvet. Typically, baby duvets are used until the child is around 14-16 months, although, of course, it depends on the baby's size. In this guide, we cover the essential topics to consider when choosing a baby duvet. Here you'll find the main sections:
FillingThere are many different types of filling for baby duvets, and it can be hard to know which one to choose. Each filling type has its own advantages. Below we've listed some of the most important ones: Baby Silk DuvetThere are many benefits to choosing a baby silk duvet for your little one. A silk duvet is allergy-friendly, antibacterial, temperature-regulating and moisture-absorbing – in short, the very best for your baby. Silk duvets are exceptionally light. Because silk as a material is compressed, the duvet is not as bulky as down duvets and so is easy to wrap around your baby. Read more about all the benefits in our silk duvet guide. Baby Down DuvetChoose a baby down duvet if you prefer a natural product that is both full and temperature-regulating. Baby down duvets are available at HOME-TEX.com with various types of down: muscovy down, goose down, and duck down. Muscovy down and goose down offer the highest loft and therefore the best quality. You can read more about the different types of down in our down guide. Loft in Baby DuvetsThe term 'carrying capacity' refers to the down mixture's ability to retain air, ensuring the best possible insulation. Carrying capacity is influenced by the quality of individual down clusters. The highest carrying capacity is 13, achievable with down from a fully-grown musk duck or goose raised in cold regions. Down from smaller animals, usually ducks raised in warmer climates and slaughtered at a young age, typically has a carrying capacity around 7. The higher the carrying capacity, the better the duvet's insulating ability. Down fibre baby duvetA down fibre baby duvet has the same properties as down - it's airy and regulates temperature. Microfibre baby duvetIf you’re looking for an affordable baby duvet that's also hypoallergenic, a duvet with microfibre filling is a great choice. You can also use this duvet as an extra, for guests, or at the summer house. A fibre duvet can be machine washed, making it easy to maintain good hygiene whether it's for your baby or a guest. Duvet typesIt’s crucial not to choose a duvet that's too warm for your baby. Young children struggle more to cool down. This often results in them kicking off the duvet, leaving them cold. Two warmth classes: Many baby duvets come in two warmth classes: a summer version and a warmer all-season duvet. Some children can comfortably sleep with an all-season duvet throughout the year, while others may need a summer duvet during the warmer months. If your child tends to get very hot at night, a summer duvet can be used all year round. Hypoallergenic baby duvetsIf your baby has allergies or is sensitive to dust, choosing a hypoallergenic duvet is essential. At HOME-TEX, we offer a wide range of hypoallergenic baby duvets. Choose from: Silk duvets are hypoallergenic because silk contains sericin, which kills and inhibits bacterial growth and acts against dust mites. Maintenance of baby duvetsA baby duvet often needs frequent washing. Therefore, choose a duvet that can endure machine washing. All our down duvets and fibre duvets can be washed at 60 degrees in a standard washing machine. Not all silk duvets are machine washable. Hence, it is particularly vital to check the washing instructions when purchasing a silk duvet. Would you like to read more about filling, tog rating, casing, and duvet certifications?
