Down detergent for duvets and pillows

Washing down duvets and pillows:

All down products can be washed at 60 degrees in a normal washing machine. After washing it is important that the duvet or pillow is thoroughly dried in a tumble dryer, and that 2-3 tennis balls are placed inside. The tennis balls ensure that any matted down clusters that may have formed after washing are released and opened during the drying process. We recommend washing your pillow 1-2 times a year, and your duvet once a year in connection with the change between summer and winter duvet.
 

Washing down products if you suffer from allergies:

The same process as described above is used, but more often if you want to be absolutely sure you do not have house dust mites in your bed. The European Down and Feather Association (EDFA) recommends washing duvets 4 times a year and washing pillows 12 times a year.

Ongoing maintenance:

With a few good reminders you can help extend the life of your duvet yourself.

• When you wake up in the morning, there is still moisture left in the duvet/pillow. Let them "air off" before you put the bedspread on

• Air the duvet and pillow regularly - avoid vacuuming or beating them

• Wash the duvet (or 2 pillows) alone in a washing machine with a capacity of at least 5 kg and preferably 7 kg

• If your duvet/pillow needs spot cleaning, it is best done with a well-wrung sponge

• Use one of the down detergents available on the market, e.g. Quilt of Denmark's specially developed "DOWN DETERGENT". Always use a detergent without enzymes.

• Wash on a gentle program at 60°C or an equivalent program with high water level and low drum rotation

• Spin the duvet/pillow after washing. Choose the gentlest spin

• Drying must only be done in a tumble dryer. The temperature should be approx. 60-80°C. Put a couple of tennis balls in the tumble dryer together with the duvet/pillow. The balls ensure that the filling is kept in motion during drying and therefore make the drying more effective

• Drying time should be a minimum of 3-5 hours, but will depend on the tumble dryer. The most important thing is that the duvet/pillow must be completely dry - including the fine down inside, otherwise they will be damaged.
