Silk duvets at great prices

Down and fibre duvets are common in many homes, whereas silk duvets are still relatively new to most of us. Silk duvets differ from others as they are filled with natural mulberry silk fibres instead of down or fibre. Silk duvets are rapidly becoming popular in Danish homes, and with good reason. Silk duvets have three significant advantages: they are temperature-regulating, allergy-friendly, and antibacterial.

Advantages of the silk duvet

Silk duvets are known for being:
  • Temperature regulating. If you tend to sweat heavily at night, the silk duvet is excellent as it regulates temperature and wicks away sweat, keeping the surface dry. With a silk duvet, you avoid waking up overheated and sweaty during the night, allowing you to sleep comfortably and dry. The temperature-regulating property is also beneficial if you tend to get cold at night. Silk warms up quickly and retains heat effectively.
  • Allergy-friendly. Silk is an antibacterial material, ensuring a hygienic and comfortable sleep environment. This makes silk duvets suitable for allergy sufferers. House dust mites cannot live in silk. Silk has a structure that prevents dust mites from thriving.
  • The beneficial qualities of the silk duvet make it an excellent choice for babies and children.

Duvet sizes

When purchasing a new duvet, it's crucial to select the correct size. When selecting your duvet size, consider your height as a guide. We recommend duvets with extra length, such as 140x220cm, for those 170cm tall or taller, but ultimately it's a matter of personal preference. If you have multiple duvets requiring matching bedding, it's advisable to choose duvets of the same size. This simplifies finding the correct bedding and makes changing it easier. If two of you share a bed, it is advisable to buy a double duvet. These are available in several sizes and can be tailored to suit your joint needs.

The different warmth categories:

Winter duvets

If you need a duvet to keep you warm during the winter months, a winter duvet is an excellent choice. For most people, however, a winter duvet is too warm to use year-round, so it's wise to have a summer duvet for the warmer months. Generally, a winter duvet has a filling weight of 750 grams or more (140x200cm) - though this varies with the type of filling you choose. Fibre duvets can't really be compared directly, and it also depends on the size you select, as a double duvet, for instance, will contain more grams of filling.

Summer duvets

Summer duvets are airier and lighter than all-year and winter duvets, due to significantly less filling. Switching to a summer duvet is common once the outdoor temperature exceeds 14 degrees. Many opt to alternate between a summer duvet and a winter duvet - this helps extend the lifespan of your duvets.

All-season duvets

All-season duvets come with a variety of fillings including muscovy down, goose down, fibre, silk and more. All-season duvets are bulkier than summer duvets but not as warm as winter duvets. Some people can easily use an all-season duvet year-round, but for others, it might be necessary to switch to a summer duvet during the warmer months.

Your needs and preferences

Navigating through the variety of duvets available can be challenging, not just in terms of size, but also type and filling. We recommend taking your time to select your new duvet. You spend a third of your life in bed, so it is vital that the duvet fits you well - enhancing both comfort and well-being. The fillings in duvets vary greatly - so how do you determine which is right for you? It's advisable to thoroughly read our duvet guide. Afterward, consider if your feet get cold at night, in which case you might need a duvet with extra length.
