After washing, it is vital to thoroughly dry the duvet or pillow in a tumble dryer, placing 2-3 tennis balls inside. The tennis balls ensure that any clumped down is separated and fluffed up during the drying process. We recommend washing your pillow 1-2 times yearly and your duvet once annually, particularly when switching between a summer duvet and a winter duvet. Washing down products if you suffer from allergies: Use the same process as described above, but more frequently, to ensure you keep house dust mites out of your bed. The European Down and Feather Association (EDFA) advises washing duvets four times a year and washing pillows twelve times a year. Read more about maintaining your duvet and pillow Ongoing care: With a few simple tips, you can help prolong the duvet's lifespan. When you awaken in the morning, there is still moisture in the duvet/pillow. Allow them to "air out" before covering with a bedspread. Regularly air your duvet and pillow - avoid vacuuming or beating them. Wash your duvet (or two pillows) on their own in a washing machine with a capacity of at least 5 kg, preferably 7 kg. If spot cleaning is needed for your duvet/pillow, use a well-wrung sponge. Use one of the down-specific detergents available on the market, such as: Quilts of Denmark's specially formulated "DOWN DETERGENT". Always use a detergent without enzymes. Wash on a gentle cycle at 60°C or a similar setting with high water level and low drum rotation. Spin the quilt/pillow after washing. Opt for the gentlest spin cycle. Drying should only be done in a tumble dryer. The temperature should be approximately 60-80°C. Place a few tennis balls in the dryer with the duvet/pillow. The balls ensure the filling remains in motion during drying, enhancing drying efficiency. Drying time should be at least 3-5 hours, depending on the dryer. It is vital that the duvet/pillow is completely dry - including the delicate down inside, to prevent any damage. Return toPillow
