Wool as a material

Wool is one of nature's most precious resources. Wool is a natural material derived from various animal species. Wool contains lanolin, which makes it ideal for duvets and pillows. Lanolin in wool provides antibacterial, self-cleaning properties, and it helps transport heat away from the body, just as it does when on the sheep. Wool can originate from different animals, which is why it may have various names. The most common types of wool come from sheep and goats.

Care and maintenance

As previously mentioned, wool is self-cleaning, meaning you don't need to wash duvets or pillows frequently. During colder months, you can refresh the duvet by laying it outside (not directly on the ground) when the dew has settled and in the shade, allowing it to air out and revitalise. Ensure the duvet or pillow is thoroughly dry before reusing it.
If washing is necessary, be sure to use wool detergent and a wool cycle on your machine; avoid the tumble dryer. Wool, like other naturally self-cleaning products, should be dried naturally. Products must be completely dry before reuse.
